Amazon have pretty much killed off older Kindles ►
◄ My review: Defenders of the Earth (2024) new comic #5-8
Amazon are selling a book that apes the Wiley "Windows 11 for dummies" and includes instructions on bypassing Windows product activation. They've actively removed reviews mentioning this or simply that Windows 12 doesn't currently exist. It'll be interesting to see if Wiley (who hold a "for dummies" trademark) have any success, since it's been listed for a couple of years.
"We could not post your review because it focuses on one or more of these topics:
Sellers
Delivery
Packaging
Pricing
Availability
Why isn't that allowed?
These aspects vary by order and won't be relevant to all customers. That said, we want your feedback about sellers and packaging, just not in product reviews."
(None of those topics were mentioned.)
"Thank you for leaving a review of [x]; we’re sorry you did not have a positive experience with the product. We looked into your concerns, but unfortunately we could not verify that your account purchased this item on Amazon. As a result, we removed the review you submitted for this product."
(So it's fine to review products purchased elsewhere unless they mention they're about non-existent things.)
Equally bizarrely there's a video of the contents here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX1XaSpUXkk

Of course, Linux Mint is a real, legitimate FOSS project: https://www.linuxmint.com/
Bonus copyright shenanigans: eBay are increasingly hiding negative feedback behind simplified 'mobile' layouts as well as leaving alone a proliferation of tech book sellers that aren't selling originals. I found this out when was looking at copies of The Pragmatic Programmer, before reading a sample and reminding myself that it's a book that I didn't particularly enjoy first time around, and a lot of the ones for sale were from coming from India from WordsStringOfNumbers private sellers "located in the UK" and had feedback indicating them to be print and paste copies. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised when there's such a large margin on popular textbooks with an RRP of GDP 40, 60, 100 etc.
